StudySathi: NCERT & GSEB AI (Android app, package com.mfs.aiteacher)
Effective date: [DD Month YYYY] · Last updated: [DD Month YYYY]
This Privacy Policy explains how Sahilkumar Chudasama, trading as ReelStory (“we”, “us”, “our”), handles information when you use the StudySathi: NCERT & GSEB AI mobile application (the “App”).
StudySathi is an educational app for students of Classes 1–12 following the NCERT, CBSE and GSEB syllabus. Because our users include children, we have designed the App to collect as little personal information as possible. Please read this policy carefully, and if you are a child, please read it together with a parent or guardian.
The short version. You do not need to create an account or give us your name to use StudySathi. We do not sell your information. The main information that leaves your device is the question you type into the AI Teacher, which we send to an AI service so it can generate an answer, plus basic technical and usage data used to keep the App working.
1. Who we are
The data fiduciary / data controller responsible for the App is:
Sahilkumar Chudasama (ReelStory)28, Baba Ramdevpir ni Chali, Uttamnagar,
Jawaharchok Mani, Maninagar,
Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380008, India
Email: [email protected]
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- AI Teacher questions. The text of the doubts, homework questions and prompts you type into the AI Teacher, along with any image or photograph of a question you choose to upload.
- Learning preferences. Your selected class, board (NCERT / CBSE / GSEB), medium (English, Hindi or Gujarati), and display preferences such as night mode. These are stored on your device.
- Support messages. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write to us.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, address, school name, photograph or date of birth, and we ask you not to include personal details about yourself or anyone else in the questions you send to the AI Teacher.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and technical data: device model, operating system version, App version, language setting, and approximate region derived from your IP address.
- Usage data: which chapters, books and features you open, session length, and similar in-app events.
- Crash and diagnostic data: error logs and stability reports when the App misbehaves.
- Identifiers: a randomly generated app-instance identifier used to count users and diagnose faults.
2.3 What we do not collect
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, calendar, SMS messages, call logs, microphone audio, or files outside those you deliberately share with the App. We do not knowingly build advertising or behavioural profiles of our users.
3. Why we use your information
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis (GDPR, where applicable) |
|---|---|---|
| Answering your AI Teacher questions | Question text, uploaded images, class and board | Performance of a contract; consent |
| Showing the right books and solutions | Class, board, medium | Performance of a contract |
| Fixing crashes and improving the App | Device, usage, crash data | Legitimate interests |
| Preventing abuse and misuse of the AI Teacher | Question text, technical identifiers | Legitimate interests |
| Responding to your emails and requests | Contact details, message content | Legitimate interests; legal obligation |
We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. How the AI Teacher works
When you ask the AI Teacher a question, the text of that question (and any image you attach) is sent over an encrypted connection to [name your AI provider — for example, Google Gemini API, OpenAI, or your own server], which generates the explanation you see. The provider processes your question only to produce that answer and to run its service.
Please do not type personal information — your full name, address, phone number, school roll number, or details about other people — into the AI Teacher. It is a study tool, not a private messaging service.
AI-generated explanations can be incomplete or incorrect. Always check important answers against your textbook or your teacher.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing purposes. We share limited information only with service providers who help us run the App:
- [AI provider name] — processes AI Teacher questions to generate answers.
- [Google Firebase / Google Analytics for Firebase] — app analytics and crash reporting.
- [Hosting provider] — stores app content and handles requests.
- [Google AdMob] — serves advertisements. If ads are shown to children, they must be non-personalised, in line with Google Play’s Families Policy.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or ourselves.
6. International transfers
Our service providers may process data on servers outside India, including in the United States and the European Union. Where information is transferred out of a jurisdiction whose laws apply to you, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers, such as standard contractual clauses.
7. Children’s privacy
StudySathi is designed for school students and is intended to be used by children with the involvement of a parent, guardian or teacher.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described in this policy, and we do not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to use the App.
- We do not serve behavioural or interest-based advertising to children, and we do not use children’s data for tracking or profiling.
- India (DPDP Act, 2023): where the App processes the personal data of a child (a person under 18), we rely on verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian. Parents may contact us at any time to review or withdraw that consent.
- United States (COPPA): we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.
Parents and guardians: if you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please email [email protected] and we will delete it.
8. How long we keep information
- Preferences and downloaded content stay on your device until you clear the App’s data or uninstall it.
- AI Teacher questions are retained for up to [e.g. 30 days] for abuse prevention and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymised.
- Analytics and crash data are retained for up to [e.g. 14 months].
- Support emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve your query.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and restricted access to any stored data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data; to withdraw consent; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to complain to a supervisory authority. In India, that authority is the Data Protection Board of India.
You can exercise these rights at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, and we may need to ask a question or two to confirm the request is genuine.
You can also delete all locally stored information at any time by clearing the App’s storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App.
11. Third-party content and links
The App references publicly available material and links to official sources such as NCERT (ncert.nic.in), CBSE (cbse.gov.in) and GSEB (gseb.org). Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control. StudySathi is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to NCERT, CBSE, GSEB or any government body.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will provide a notice within the App. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
